One of our favourite things to do as a family is exploring new farms. Every spring/summer we will drive around Vancouver and the Fraser valley trying new places.
I love having my kids exposed to nature and the animals, and it’s been like that since they were born. I remember taking Mia since she was literally a newborn.
Here are our favourite Local farms to visit:
Maplewood Farms (North Van)
This was the first farm we visit when Mia was 3 months old. Maplewood Farm is situated near Mount Seymour and about a 20 min drive from downtown Vancouver. They have over 200 domestic and friendly farm animals and birds. Matias loves playing with the goats and feeding the birds. They do have picnic areas if you want to eat there, and they also have the options of having birthday parties!
Krause Berry Farms (Langley)
The farm with the best waffles! (and sangrias lol!) We usually go there during the summer as they have all of these activities for kids and adults, activities include train rides, berry picking, wine tasting, jumping pads, play challenging games, playground and more! They also have an ice cream station, a little restaurant where they make the most delicious chilli!
We will also go again to visit their pumpkin patch! Fall on that farm is so beautiful and the kids love it!
Emma Lea Farms (Delta)
Locating in the farming and fishing community of Ladner, this is our farm to go for berry picking. They seriously have the best berries in town! Every year we take the kids there to take pics and enjoy their delicious ice creams! They also have winter vegetables, jam, honey and SPCA certified beef. They also host special events, if you want to check them out, we heard they are having a Spring market on Saturday, May 4thfrom 10 am to 3 pm benefiting the Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation.
Taves Family Farms (Abbotsford)
We were there this past weekend and this farm has to be on our top list. It not only has lots of activities for kids but also they have animals. It is very rare to find a farm that has it all, and certainly, they do! The kids had a blast riding on their tractor, playing in the zip line, and visiting their bunnies! They also have bees, goats, and more!
They do have a playground, food station, but my favourite was the go cards! I was riding Matias for like half an hour and we were having lots of fun! 100% recommended
